National Pro Bono Forum
National Pro Bono Forum 2010 – a successful event
National Pro Bono Forum organized by Pro Bono Alliance (then PILA) together with Czech Bar Association took place on 28th April 2010 under the patronage of the president of Czech Constitutional Court, JUDr. Pavel Rychetský. The event was attended by more than 50 representatives of law firms, civil society organizations, academia and justice. The conference took place at Conference Hall of Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports.
The presenters discussed the potential tools for development of pro bono legal services. The forum was opened by Martin Vychopeň, Chairman of the Czech Bar Association and Vítězslav Dohnal (on behalf of Pro Bono Alliance) and opening remarks were delivered by Lord Andrew Phillps. Stanislav Balík (judge of the Constitution Court, former president of the Czech Bar Association) delivered presentation on Tradition of Pro Bono in Bohemian Lands, folowed by contributions of Martin Vychopeň (Czech Bar Association), Marcela Hogenová (Allen & Overy) and Tomáš Rašovský (Rašovský law firm) on providers' views on contemporary Czech Pro Bono . The views of users of Czech Pro Bono were presented by Kateřina Veselá (CSO Fokusu Praha) and Vítězslav Dohnal (Pro Bono Alliance). Dominique Attias (Paris Bar Chamber) and Tamas Barabas (PILnet, then PILI Budapest) presented the foreign experiences of systematic support of pro bono. At the end possibilities of pro bono development were discussed in panel discussion by Martin Vychopeň (Czech Bar Association), Vítězslav Dohnal (Pro Bono Alliance) and Lord Andrew Phillips.
The event was concluded with a reception with opening remark by Štěpán Holub, Pro Bono Attorney of the Year 2009.
